Views would have been great except for all the smoke.
With my buddy Ben Kiser, we continued our Mummy Mania route from Chiquita over to Ypsilon. Was pretty chill around 5am, and found myself pulling out extra layers. Made it to the summit before sunrise and finally got to see some of the shadows of the mountains ahead. On to the rest...
Got up to Ypsilon at sunrise around 6 am. Had a quick bite, admired the views, then continued the Mummy Kill route.
Solo party with friends up Blitzen.
07/15 w/Cory Martin
After eyeing this awesome rang for about 15 years, finally made it back to RMNP to finish my dream!
Great Route up Blitzen Ridge > Summit > Donner Ridge Descent.
Chiquita, Ypsilon, Chapin with Zach
8/30/08 - Noobs on Blitzen Ridge. Ridiculously long day caused mostly by rope management issues... first time trying to use doubles!
6/25/2016 - Left Branch of the infamous Y Couloir. Massive runnels made for some interesting and very steep climbing. A few low 5th class rock moves required at the 12,700 ft constriction. Cornice up top was blunted and nonthreatening.
One of the greatest climbing experiences I've ever had in RMNP. Lots of solitude, and a whole lot of fun class 2. Summit views stretched for miles and miles.
Enjoyed the solitude and peace on this hike. I did not see another human. The route was direct and open. The weather was exceptional. A joyous day.
Great hike with my wife and another couple, perfect weather and good acclimatization for upcoming Canada Rockies climbing trip.
Wonderful hike but unfortunately a cloud took some of our views away while on the summit
Any day above tree line is a good day.
CCY. This was my first significant solo hike - opened new doors.
I wish i had better vies but despite it was niceseptember morning it was hazy from fires in Wyoming and Montana.
Long ridge all the way to Flatiron. Was gonna hit Confluence & Nutcracker but was running short on time. Desolation Peaks really chocked my time down. Great day!!!
Wow, what perfect weather we had today - I love these September days! Great views of huge swaths of the park from this summit.
3rd of seven!
