Short jaunt  Sucess!

After the summit areas of South Twin, Guyot, Bond, and West Bond, not a lot to see on Zealand. But Zeacliff and Zeacliff pond were great

First of four 4000 footers for the day  Sucess!

Two hours and forty seven minutes from the Zealand road parking area to the summit. The trip back after doing the Bonds was done in the dark with torrential rain in a thunderstorm. The boulder strewn parts of the trail were horrid to traverse in those conditions. I was much happier once I got on the flat near the marsh.

Partial Pemi  Sucess!

Looks more like a clearing for a tent at wooded campsite. Don't plan a trip around it... Peak Baggers only.

Wet & Cold  Sucess!

Coming from Guyot campsite on a wet & cold day. Temperature down at Zealand Hut was 48 with winds around 15-20mph. I'm guessing the temperature was lower and the winds were higher up on the peak. This was peak #11 on our last day of our 5-day trip. We went all the way from Guyot campsite to Crawford Notch, as the weather reports were calling for more hard rain that night.

if you blink you'll miss it  Sucess!

This was the second peak I hiked over during a multi-day backpacking trip. I also climbed it in 2008 as part of a trip through the Bonds.

True Excitement!  Sucess!

This is about as thrilling as it gets! A towering pinnacle rising out of the trees. Seriously though, about as boring a summit as I have seen. The views from Zealand Cliffs at sunset were pretty inspiring though.

start of a good day  Sucess!

Zealand Mountain is in the trees, BUT Zeacliff is great, the falls are nice, and I even liked the easy Zealand trail, so Zealand Mountain should be payed a visit.

Longer Day  Sucess!

Tagged in the morning after Guyot and before South Twin. Neat summit sign but no views. Not that great of a summit but I guess it ticks off another 4000er.

Zealand Mountain  Sucess!

Climbed with Bondcliff via the Twinway Trail from Galehead. Does have a really remote wilderness feeling to it. Not much in the way of views though. At least we have Guyot to make up for it.

Wow, what a summit. It's summits like these that remind me what a list-dork I am. But I'm a happy list-dork, so what the hey! Part of a long dayhike that included Galehead. One or two red maples had turned color down by the ponds.

Route Climbed: North Twin > South Twin > Guyot > Zealand > Hale Date Climbed: October 1, 2005  Sucess!

This was probably the least impressive peak of my day, but it was fun just the same. The weather was gorgeous, the skies were crystal clear, and the temperature was very moderate for this time of year. Once we summited we were immediately the center of a gray jay's attention, who was after our snacks. Very well behaved bird, but definately had a bottomless stomach. Loved to fly down and eat right out of your hand. He made the peak fun.
