Re: True...

but a bit cloudy and dark. This was the end of our 7 days hike in 2004, after... 7 days of brilliant weather... first storm coming. I prefer much more this one.

For information, Zlomiskova Dolina is not marked valley... my first offtrails attempt in Tatra ;)

Fine

Worth taking the risk if you can afford an occasional fine:-)

Re: Fine

In this time I had a card of the CAF (french alpine club), as we walked down a ranger showed up, I showed it to him and all he did was greeting us and he left !
We also did a "trail mistake" near Zamkovskeho Chata taking for some 50m a trail that we first thought to be the red marked one. Showing the CAF card didn't help, we had to pay 200SK ! :)

Re: Fine

Lucky you! Up there the fine's 30 times as much, I heard, but with western papers it still seems safe. Reminds me of a mate from school, now also a citizen of Canada, who - while sightseeing in Italy - produces different passports according to which pays off. And talking of nature protection, the fines, etc. it is funny to see herds of vacationers trampling the White Carpathians off trail without any rangers around while (happened to us in Sucha Woda) you can get in trouble if your kid reaches for a few berries along the trail.

Re: Fine

Sure it's my stressed out brain again:( As to Havran, you'd better ask Tomas Kristofory, but - given those hundreds on top of Zdiarska Vidla - it seems possible off season, I think :)

Re: Fine

hmmm, interesting :)
We did Baranie Rohy last year in late September and met no rangers at all...
I think they fine people mostly in summer not for them to show the bad exemple to non-hiker tourists
