OfflineA Little About Me
A note from the SP staff:
Edward Woo, SP-member edwardmw, died on Tuesday, August 31th 2010 while decending from Gerlach, the highest mountain of the high Tatras and the highpoint of Slovakia. Together with his climbing partner he had successfully reached the summit but on their descent they lost their way ending up on the 600m south face of the mountain. At 9 p.m. they contacted the rescue services who established light contact around midnight. Due to high winds and cold, snowy conditions contact was lost again and by the time rescue workers finally reached the two climbers on the following morning both were in critical condition due to strong hypothermia. Despite strongest efforts by the rescue services in avalanche prone surroundings neither of the two climbers could be saved.
At the time of his death, Edward was only 31 years of age. His goal was to achieve all of Europe's country highpoints and he had already reached a good number of them.
This page will be kept in honour of Edward.
Rest in peace!
