What's your dream list of peaks/mountains to climb if ya had the skills and (or) money?
I'm writing a trip report and the question just popped in ma head.
It'll be interesting to see how much overlap there is among everyone's lists. :geek:

  • Moose's Tooth
  • Machupachare
  • Saint Elias
  • Alpamayo
  • Illimani

1) Kawaikini (Kauai Island HP)
2) Chinati Peak, Texas, because it's been "in limbo" now for over 20 years. No public access and no hurry to allow any.
3) Baboquivari, AZ (I hope to build up enough courage for this one this coming fall/winter)
4) Gannett, WY
5) Denali
6) Grand Teton

7-10) Everest, Aconcagua, Kilimanjaro, so on.

If I had unlimited funds, I think I'd be more amused by remote island HPs such as those in the South Indian Ocean (Bouvet, Kerguelen), or odd-ball seastacks like Rockall in the North Atlantic, or the Diomede Island HP in Alaska. I'd also return to Australia and "hike" Kosciusko, given that I lived in Canberra for a year and never once went there. Ugh. An opportunity missed.

A chart with my top 10:

http://www.summitpost.org/scott-s-wish-list/335481

Interestingly, most of them were on a list I made at age 14 or so (although I've already climbed many of them on the age 14 list).

I like to keep my list realistic and accomplishable (for me), so I didn't list K2 and such.

The list in the link has changed slightly since I have replaced Pik Pobeda and Khan Tengri as a tie for #1. Muztag Ata would drop off the list in the place of one of those. I wanted to climb Muztag Ata since I read about it as a kid and before it was popular (I was facinated with the old reports), but in more modern times, people that have climbed it seem to refer to it as a snow slog and no so asthetic.

It'll be interesting to see how much overlap there is among everyone's lists.

Some overlap for sure.

but hate to inform you that El Cap is not really a "peak"....a "peak" is like Mt Baldy here in Los Angeles

Oh they are and were peaks for me.

I'm Not a peak dude. Never was. Strictly a route kind a guy like Mark Twight & Stevie Haston. Keeping it simple.

Besides, some of the routes I mention and have done are, well you know, sphicter puckering max outs that require days on the wall. Hell, spent 9 days on Jolly Roger.

I will add my completed and dream Ice Routes tomorrow. Oh-laalaa
