Description

I'm looking for a few adventurist who would be into hiking up some snowy peaks and making the descent on snowboard or skis. I like hiking with skiers, if they don't mind snowboarders or hiking up. ((no split-board yet)) I have a couple of peaks in mind for this coming season, Mt. Tom, is first on my list. Followed by Birch, Bloody Mnt., University, and even perhaps a overnighter @ Whitney with a couple of ski/board descents. But I'm open to suggestions. I have been riding for more than a decade and was an instructor for 2 years. I have taken a Level 1 Avalanche Safety course, and I'm CPR/First Aid certified. I'm not into anything too technical, no ropes or harnesses, but I love to descend at 40mph on my board. I have climbed a several peaks in Cali, and a couple in Salt Lake as well. I'm looking for someone who can ride at least a black or double black, and has all the avy safety equipment((beacon, probe, shove)) I'm not super man hiker, and I take the ascent slowly. Most of all I want to have fun, and descend safely. Anyone down??

drop a line, Mt. Tom has been on my ticklist for a while (at least doing Elderberry from the top, via the summit ridge and headwall chutes). Avy conditions need to be stable though, I'm not interested in getting dead.

Last season was good, bagged Darwin, Shasta, and a couple other minor trips. This season I'd like to pick off Tyndall and Williamson as part of the High Route, and traverse the Whites. Birch is a big mountain -- fun, but it's a hell of a slog (did that the previous season). Bloody is a lot steeper than Birch or University -- I'd like to warm up on the Wahoos or Emerson before jumping into that, but I'd be up for it, again if the conditions are right. If you're living in Bishop... well, that's a hell of a place to be in the winter!

Anyways, drop a line. If you can scrape together the funds, you should get a split (or start skiing), though. I like to go reasonably fast on the uphill, although I have met people who can snowshoe as fast as I can skin (how embarrassing). Maybe it would be fun to relax for a change, though.

finally, winter is getting off to a late start. But at lease it is snowing a bit. Pray for snow, and winter fun.
