Description
I'm looking for a partner interested in doing three to four weeks of moderate technical climbing in either December or January in Ecuador.
The plan would be to spend a few days in Quito and then head out to some acclimatization climbs.
Possibilities: Cotachachi, Sincholagua and Iliniza Norte (all low 5th class).
The major peaks I'm interested include:
Quilindana, 5.7
Cotopaxi, PD
Iliniza Sur, AD+ or D
Chimborazo, Glacier Direct, AD+ (20,000 feet)
Antisana, AD- or D
El Altar, Obispo, D
A potential partner should have solid glacier travel/Alpine rock and ice experience and technical experience at higher elevation (ideally at least 16,000 feet).
Since I'll be using frequent flier miles for the ticket, I'd like to settle on a time asap.

| Hi, I'm planning to go to Ecuador for 4 weeks. Your trip sounds cool, but I don't think I have the technical skills that you do. My main goals would be Cotopaxi and Chimborazo. PM me if you are interested in talking about it. | Posted Sep 13, 2006 8:41 pm |

| It sounds like great targets and not just plods through gravel! However I need training for crossing snow covered glaciers and my Scarpa Vega boots does not like climbing longer sections of rock beyond 5a.
I am however open to easy/intermediate climbs of a mountain in the range 5 500 - 6 500 m. My preliminary plan is to use approx. 16 days in the end of January/February for guided glaciar training and then focus on one peak.
PM me if interesting. | Posted Nov 1, 2006 9:54 pm |
mpes | Ecuador in Jan | |
| I will be in Ecuador from 4 to 30 of January. I would like to climb Cotopaxi and Chimborazo and maybe something more technical. I've done couple of 6000m in Andes (Illimani, Hyuana Potosi) and Himalaya (Kang Yaze West, Stock Kangri), some rock climbing and have crevasse rescue training from Alps.
Let me know if you are interested. | Posted Nov 20, 2006 9:58 pm |
