Description

Looking for interested person or persons for a two day summit shot on Mt. Hood South side route. I've been training by snowshoeing and crampon travel up to betweeen 8500 to 9250ft level with 25 to 40 lb pack 4 or 5 times this year. Found a nice spot at about 9150 ft straight up from the lodge where I think a tent site could be put up and spend an afternoon and evening then make the summit shot early the next morning then return to camp site at 9150 and either relax and enjoy or pickup and return to lodge based on group preference and weather conditions at the time.

I did a summit last year on south route with a guided group but felt rushed and am hoping by breaking it up a bit the trip may be more enjoyable. Last years trip started at 8500 ft with the snow cat trip deal so I didn't really feel like I climbed the mountain. Just seems like spending the night at a high camp would add to the overall trip atmosphere. Besides Hood I've climbed Adams, S. Sisters, St. Helens but all those have been summer type climbs so Hood is my only real snow experiances.
I've got everything needed except a rope which I'm not sure is required for this route unless all party members feel comfortable using one. I'd like anyone interested to have at least the same experiance level as myself and I'd be happy to have someone with more experiance if they're willing to come and maybe teach me something along the way.

Hey there,

I'll be ascending Mt. Hood via South Side/Hogsback in late June/early July. Would love to team up with you (I'm also intermediate and like the idea of the over night.).

Are your dates flexible?

Sorry I didn't see your reply sooner. My plans for Late May or Early June didn't pan out partially due to weather concerns but mostly due to back injuries sustained in an auto accident. Are you coming into town specifically to climb or are you here on business/other?

I've got another guy I know from work who's telling me he'll go next weekend so we're watching weather and hoping my back is healed.
