Description

Hi,

I'd like to head out to the Palisade area to camp
and do a day or two of climbing. I'm familiar with the
approach to Temple Crag but have not gone any further so this will be my first time to the Palisade Glacier / Third Lake / Sam Mac.
I was thinking of camping at Sam Mac the first night
and then climbing Mt. Sill either via Swiss Arete (crux is a small section of 5.7)
or the 4th class route. I did a few 14'rs last year
and looking to add a few more this season.
If the climb goes quickly maybe we could walk across
the ridge from Sill to Polemonium, then rap down.
Peter Croft says of this climb in The Good, the Great, and the Awesome
"This is a great climb, although I do wish it was longer. But the peak is
high, the rock is pretty perfect and the view is tremendous."
Safety first and I comfortably lead up to 5.9 trad.
Looking to do this early summer.
