Description

I'm looking for a regular partner for trad, ice and mountaineering in the tri-state. I go out to the Gunks 2-3 times a month during spring, summer and fall, and do ice climbing in the Catskills during winter, with the occasional long weekend in the Daks or NH.

My true love is alpine climbing, and I try to do a couple of extended trips every year out West. Over the past year I have climbed the 'standard' routes on Rainier and Orizaba, and I'm hoping to move towards technical alpine-style climbing. I'm working towards being able to lead some alpine Grade IV climbs by summer 2010, e.g. Liberty Ridge on Rainier

Ideally, I'm looking for someone with similar interests in the NY/NJ area so that we can grow into a regular partnership that can be carried over to alpine climbing further afield.

I currently lead 5.6/5.7 in the Gunks, and just started on WI3 leads at the end of last winter. I have rock and ice racks and camping/mountaineering gear.

Hey there kheegster,

I am living in NJ/NY and eager to find a regular partner for mountaineering, rock and ice. My last few partners have moved overseas and down south.

I have a very open schedule and would love to get up to the Gunks for some rock over the rest of the summer and transition into ice for the winter. I am also hoping to get out to Rainier on the Kautz Glacier route in August.

I consider myself an intermediate climber.. most experience in alpine, high-altitude climbs (AD+/D level). Last year I was leading trad 5.8 in the Gunks and WI4- in the Daks but haven't gotten out this year.

Let me know if you are still interested. Email me at sdespins00@yahoo.com as I haven't been on these boards much lately.
Cheers,
Susan
