Sicily, hiking the Peloritani, the mountains of the 2 seas

Hi,
we will do a trek through the Peloritani mountains, the range located on the East edge of the Sicily between the Ionian and Tyrrhenian seas, and because of this gifted of outstanding panorama that includes also the volcano Etna, the Aeolian islands and the Strait of Messina. Starting from Dinnamare mount over the Strait, along the ancient path named Dorsale dei Peloritani we will climb the mains peaks as the mysterious Monte Scuderi, Monte Poverello, the wild Montagna di Vernà and the dolomitic Rocca Novara. But also we want to discover some of its gorge and valley like the Valle degli Eremiti. It will take about 80 km shared in 4 days of walk, we will sleep in refuges. Souls Pilgrimage from Dinnammare Sanctuary to Madonna del Tindari Sanctuary is now.

On occasion of the week of celebration of the black Madonna del Tindari a pilgrimage started from the Dinnammare Sanctuary over Messina Strait to reach in five days Madonna del Tindari Sanctuary over the nature reserve of Marinello lakes through the Peloritani Mountains.

the Walk of the Beauty
from Messina cathredal to the famousTaormina along th ionian coast to discover the little typical village and its unexpected treasures, old mills and millstones and vineyards, ancient villas, mystic monastery and convent, castles and fortress, archaeological excavations and mines, crossing the typical fiumare (the rivers of this land) and streams for five stages and 110 km of pure beauty at the shadows of the Peloritani. 12-16 december.

It's time of water trekking
Last weeks of winter and spring are the best time do practice hiking in the gorges and canyon of Peloritani mountains that end in the typical fiumare, the rivers of these lands. Now they are full of water but in many of them the streams of water are not so strong nor the water so deep to obstruct you to walk inside or beside. Discovery their falls and rocks in the typicall Mediterranean vegetation that is going to awake will make you part of the nature. Some canyon are completely still unexplored others have some parts in the villages like Bocca di Cane canyon in the link below.

Along the ancient path named Dorsale dei Peloritani we will climb the mains peaks of Peloritani mountains as Monte Scuderi, Monte Poverello, the wild Montagna di Vernà and the dolomitic Rocca Salvatesta admiring beautiful sunsets and sunrises falling and coming from the sea.
