Description

I am interested in doing Red Mountain (Near Spada Reservroir). It is rated class 4 rock, but because it is 5738 feet high, there will be lots of snow. The crux of the climb is from 5300 to about 5600 feet. I predict avalanche danger will be pretty minimal because most of the climb is in forest. This peak has never been done in the winter so it will be a First Winter Ascent. Actually it has only been climbed by 10-15 people. The peak was first climbed in 1958, and the register that was placed on that climb is still there. It really is an awesome climb. It is 4350 feet of elevation gain and 5 miles to the summit. Three and a half miles will involve walking up a road, and 1.5 miles will actually be climbing. The trip will be either Friday or Saturday
You can contact me at j7jamin at yahoo.com if you are interested.
