Description
June of 2011 I am climbing the West Rib of Mount McKinley, alpine style. We will be acclimating on the West Buttress so we can go faster on the West Rib. I am planning 3 to 4 weeks (subject to change) on the mountain.
Between now and then I will be checking off alot of winter ascents and ckecking out potential Mckinley partners. I would rather the partners be from around the Salt Lake City area so we can climb more together and get to know each other better. I think it is safer that way too. People must have their own basic gear and some experience in ice climbing, winter camping (-10 degrees at night), backcountry skiings mountaineering above 12,000 feet
I have never been on a glaciers or around crevasses. So in May I am heading up to Mount Rainer for 2 days of training and then climbing to the summit in 4 days, around trip.
The reason the trip is two years out is the cost but more importently getting everyone ready physically, mentally and all the skills and experience we need.
