Description

Looking to hike Shasta in a couple weeks on the 4th and 5th of November. Could do this alone, but figured it would be safer if I could find 1 or more people in case something were to happen!

This non-glacier route requires an ice axe/helmet/crampons and the ability to self arrest if needed. Looks like there should be some snow on the route, especially at higher elevations.

I'm a fairly experienced hiker, with some mountaineering experience. Summited Rainier, Whitney and Wheeler Pk in New Mexico.

This is a rigorous hike, especially if the desire is to do it in one day, so anyone joining would have to be in decent shape. I generally don't push the pace and like to enjoy the climb, but being out of shape above 10K feet can lead to fatigue and associated bad judment.

I'll be traveling from Portland down to San Fran and this will be a stop along the way.

Would you be willing to go the weekend after? If not I may still be able to join you. I have an axe, crampons and warm gear, but havent had any real traing with regards to these, just friends giving me tips on our hike up baldy this last spring. if you would be willing to hike with me anyway and teach me a few things, I may be up for it. Plus I am a doctor in case something happens :)
