Description

Looking for a partner(s) for a climb of Rainier sometime around early August. I was thinking over a long weekend as I currently do not live in the Seattle area.

I have attemped the mountain 3 times on 3 different routes and summitted 0 times due to bad weather and timing, all unguided - this time I have decided to instead go in high season to improve my summit chances.

Kautz glacier would be the top of my list for routes, but could be convinced to do a more appealing route.

I would love to connect with some folks who are laid back and know how to rope up, are comfortable with glacier travel, and crevasse extraction.

Cheers,
Andy

Hello, I have summitted Shasta and Hood, and Elbert under snowy conditions. Used to roping up, and climbing slopes of solid ice. Interested in your early August trip. Any dates in mind?

That is pretty much when I was planning to go with a climbing partner. Would definitly be interested in forming a 3-4 person team. Was thinking of just doing the DC route to minimize chances of getting involved in a one man crevass rescue attempt, but would have no problem doing a less traveled route with a 3-4 person team.
Only requirement is no more than one night out, since I like to travel light. Prefer a one day up and down when possible.

A friend and I are planning to climb Rainier this August sometime between the 12th and the 17th and we'd ideally like to find a third for our rope team. We are considering DC, Emmons Glacier, Winthrop Glacier, or Fuhrer Finger. Neither of us have been up Rainier before. email is BFB38@cornell.edu

Hey Andy,
If you haven't already figured your plan out, I'd be game for an attempt on the Kautz. Let me know if you're interested!
