Description

I'm 60 and in good shape for that age, but I am just not as fast as I once was - in spite of a lot of work. I'm looking for someone to climb some of the easier Sierra classic (3rd-5.6) with.

I have all the gear (and then some) and experience going back decades, though I have not lead rock for a year or more. Last summer I did the Dana Couloir, this year 2-18,000 peaks in Peru but it took me a while to acclimatize. I don't want to bullshit anyone so please reread the first sentence. I'd ideally like to find a regular partner for year round mountain sports.

AlpineTaddyHi,
I might go out with you on one or two weekends, or in a week time. Let me know if interested.

I would be up for something like that, I live in Pollock Pines, on your way to Tahoe and would be intersted in some weekends and even week long trips.

Hi Michael,

your posting is a few years old, but it's hard to find climbing partners in their 60s. I'm 63, in decent shape, with many years climbing in the Sierras. I have time, all the climbing gear, a 4wheel camper on 4wd Tacoma. I've climbed all over California, the usual suspects, including Cathedral, Matthess, West ridge Conness. I lead solid 5.7, 5.8 sometimes 5.9, and could probably follow 10b or C, although with my wife I rarely follow. In the gym I regularly toprope 11c, whatever that means. My big new idea is to try non-technical peak and ridge climbing up to 4th class, like North Peak, Mount Clark, Whorl Mountain etc. But I'm open. If you were interested, we could meet at Ironworks or Great Western.

Best,
Mark
