I recently moved to Santa Cruz, CA from North Carolina, and now that I'm out here I want to take advantage of this awesome landscape. I would love to do some winter backpacking. I've heard great things about Crater Lake up in Oregon, as well as Mt. Shasta, and I know that California has so much to offer.
Ideally I'd like to take around a 4 day trip somewhere north of here, and do some relaxed backcountry snowshoeing and hiking. I really just want to go somewhere that would make my jaw drop. I would need to rent snowshoes, as well as some other gear.
Basically, I've got the bug bad and I need to get a trip planned before I jump out of my skin. Since I'm new to the area, I don't know that many people, which is why I'm posting on here seeing if anyone would be interested in doing something like this.

| still looking partners in/around santa cruz? i am moving out there from dc metro but am originally from north carolina by way of oregon. i am pretty much into every outdoor sport, especially trail running, mountaineering, and fly fishing. brad
