Description
Two weeks in the Selway-Bitterroot or Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho and Montana
CSS 498 (Section 01) Internship: Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Service-Learning Internship
We are looking for students to learn and serve in the heart of the rugged, wild northern Rockies. Earn internship credit, learn from field lectures and campfire discussions, work in the wilderness, and gain on-the-ground experience in protected-area management.
A group of service-learning students will help to improve hiking and stock access to the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Students will start the course by earning the USFS Crosscut Saw Certification. Through service, students will learn the multifaceted nature of environmental preservation and wilderness management through hands-on service-learning with leaders in the field.
This is an internship course, organized through the University of Idaho's Conservation Social Sciences Department and Service-Learning Center. Participants must register for one to three credits.
The effective dates are June 1, 2013 through June 15, 2013.
