"Fly Away"

"Life in the city can make you crazy, For sounds of the sand and the sea. Life in a high-rise can make you hungry, For things that you can't even see ..." Unlike most birds, the Cactus Wren does not migrate for the winter. To shelter itself from the cold, the wren will build the basic nest structure and line it with whatever is locally available to make the nest warm and padded. Nests have been found lined with chicken, quail, and dove feathers; sheep wool gathered from mesquite thorns or barbed wire; cotton; paper towels; and pieces of clothing. November 10, 2010

Ouch!

Looks like it would be painful if perched a certain way. Nice shot. CJ

Perched...

Spent quite a bit of time trekking and camping in the Az desert mountains. Miss it each spring when I think of the flower blooms and birds. Thanks for checking out Big Horn Ram and your vote...
