The black and green scarecrow as everybody knows,
Stood with a bird on his hat and straw everywhere.
He didn't care.
He stood in a field where barley grows.
His head did no thinking;
His arms didn't move except when the wind came up.
Rats and mice ran around on the ground;

Taken on the far west side of the Black Hills, just north of the ranching
community of Dugas, Arizona.
You could say this area gets plenty of sun. If a Scarecrow actually had been standing out here, it would have been mistaken for "yellow flour."
The mice would have gotten into it a long time ago.
