Miguel Forjan at the base of...

Miguel Forjan at the base of the Ayoloco glacier. This was just above 15k. which was (unfortunately) my high point on the mountain. Our day hike of this beast ended here as I had come down with AMS. I had felt the symptoms comming on from about 13k earlier that morning. I felt this was strange since I had done a 5 hr. + traverse at 15k a few days earlier on Nevado de Toluca. I suppose altitude can be funny that way. Nov. 23rd. 2005.

You made the right decision!

Andrew,

At high altitudes making the right decision can be the difference between life & death. --Miguel Forjan

Re: You made the right decision!

The scale of this mountain is funny in the photo. It looks as if there is only a few hundred feet left to go not 1600+ feet. Thanks Miguel - I enjoyed the trip very much. I am still taking it in even a week after our return.
