From the edge of the Enchantments plateau, we look back down to
Snow Lakes. The trail hits the lakes at the small dam that separates
them, 7 miles form the parking lot. It crosses the dam and skirts the
far side of the upper (nearer) lake. Most backpackers remember the
hike from Snow Lakes up to the Enchantments as an ordeal – all
the more reason to knock the trip off in a day with a fanny pack.
