Interesting!In 1978 this area was designated as the Indian Peaks Wilderness. The remains of two other small planes can still be found inside the wilderness, but perhaps this one got cleaned up because I've never seen it. I wonder why so many planes go down here. Thanks for posting!

I'm not familiar withthe Arapaho Pass area, but maybe pilots were
aiming for the Nederlands area, then they
became hopelessly LOST in a storm and had to
turn back. But when they turned back, they
found out they were out of fuel.

We were pretty excited too!when we found it back then, almost as much as I was when I found the box of slides the other day! Wish I had been using a better camera instead of an Instamatic back then!

Near Mt. NevaMt. Neva is just to the right. I was on this trail in 1974 and camped in this area.

Arapaho PassHope everyone made it out of the plane crash safe. That is a nice area to adventure in. I skied off Mt. Neva in May of 2007, too cool to see a photo of the pass from 1973...
