A few Chugach Mountains east of Palmer

A few Chugach Mountains east of Palmer

The mountains east of Palmer, AK.  Lazy Mountain 3,583 feet is at far left, Matanuska Peak 6,119 feet is the tallest peak in this pic. The other mtns are unnamed as far as I know (correction appreciated).  The range running from M. Peak to the right of the pic go to the southeast, above the Knik River.  Matanuska Peak summit is about 19 miles from the sea.  This pic was taken by my father in about 1953, in apparently late summer, from Echo Lake, the one south-ish from Palmer at 61.550292, -149.197747.  Thanks to chugach mtn boy for the identifications.

Clipper! What a neat looking range.

Reminds me of the Sawtooths in Idaho. Great job, 10/10

Re: Clipper! What a neat looking range.

Of course it is an appropriate use! Sorry I cannot help you though. I barely know the major stuff in the lower 48. Welcome to SP !

Re: Clipper! What a neat looking range.

An idea would;ld be to compare your view with others in the Church range gallery, right here to your right on this page. Then you could get names and be sure the orientation of your jiffy image is correct. sound good?

Matanuska or Byers Peak

The main peak there, a little left of center, is Matanuska Peak, which was once called Byers Peak by many people in the valley. It has a trail to the summit, and it's where the incredible Matanuska Peak Challenge trail run takes place.
