A field ? Are you kidding me ?
Yes, some of the highest spots in a county might not be on a mountain top or significant uplift as this picture shows. Here, Bob Bolton stands atop one of three spots that were the highest points of land in Gilliam County, a ranchland area without a peak to stand atop. Still, this was my very first "intentional" county highpoint, a fun pursuit that Bob introduced to me on a cold, chilly day in Feb 2003. We laughed alot as we went from point to point and a herd of 25 deer made it even more fun as we drove to each point and tried to avoid getting stuck in the mud. We did one other county highpoint that day, in nearby Sherman county but that little adventure is best reserved for another story on another day.
