A floatplane on Angeline Lake

A floatplane on Angeline Lake

What makes this picture memorable is the fact that Jerry and I had hiked into the Foss Lake area, past Trout Lake, past Copper Lake, past Little and Big Heart Lakes, all the way to where we could see Otter and Angeline Lakes. When we got to Angeline, we were snacking on some boulders overlooking the lake when a float plane came in and landed. This shot shows my friend Jerry checking it out with his binoculars. Just a few years after this pic was taken, the area that Angeline Lake was in was made a wilderness area and it became illegal to fly into and land on the lakes of that area. People would fly in, fish and then fly out. The Foss Lakes are a beautiful area, another of my favorite places in the Washington Cascade mountains. 1966

Very fortunate people...

In 1966, I could barely afford my own bicycle,
let alone my own float plane!

I was one of those very glad to see it become
a wilderness area.
