The trail passing on the north side of Muscoco's main summit rather than the south side makes the route a little tricky in winter as this section holds quite a bit of snow.

Yes, I was thinking about the snow potential of this section of trail, too. I note that you did it in April, right? Was there much snow then? How about pioneering a route around the south side?

In April the section directly north of the summit still had considerable snow. That being said it was quite manageable with the tough areas fairly heavily postholed by previous hikers. It would likely be tough if you had to "create" the postholes as the trail might be tough to follow in deep snow.



As far as a new route on the south side: from the Seven Falls area the south side looks pretty steep although a steep scramble may be possible. I think there may be a pic of Muscoco from this area already posted. If not, I'll try and add one in the next few days!
