A reflection of Mount Moran off of String Lake

A reflection of Mount Moran off of String Lake

A reflection of Mount Moran off of String Lake. This picture was taken while hiking the String Lake to Leigh Lake Loop. To get a reflection like this I had to wait an hour for the wind to die off, for the kids to quit throwing rocks, and the Kyackers to quit chopping up the waters. Just after taking this picture some scared folks said there was a Black Bear less than a 1/10 of a mile ahead standing on the trail. With the bear spray already at my side I continued on.....finding only the tracks of one very large bear. Grand Teton National Park August 26, 2010

Re: Wow!

The wind, kids throwing rocks, kyakers ect.....made getting this shot quite difficult. After an hour I was able to catch the reflection just before the wind came back up. As for POTW, well I certainly hope so. Happy Trails Noondueler and many thanks for the comments/vote.

Re: Wow!

What about the ripples caused by frogs jumping, and turtles swimming in the water?

How 'bout Mermaids, and the sirens sweetly singing ??? The creature from the black lagoon?

Gotta admit, I'm a bit jealous right now,
but this is a nice picture just the same.

It "probably" deserves a 10, so I'll give it
one out of the pure kindness of my heart.

Gotta spread that kindness around, here on
the BIG SP. Don't ya think ???

Re: Wow!

There were no frogs or turtles to worry about....but there was a small swarm of fish, but they were quickly eaten by a pack of ducks. Thanks for giving this one a 10 (even if that is a simpathy vote), and yes I agree that you gotta SPREAD THE KINDNESS around. Happy Trails Larry and dont work too hard out there.

Re: Wow!

I dont know about Pic of the Week....we will just have to wait and see. When my climbing partner saw the pictures I taking over the 7 days at Yellowstone/Tetons he said, "I bet I am gonna see some of these on the front page of SP as Pic Of The Day". There were some beautiful moments at those parks and I am glad that I'm albe to share them with all of you on SP. Look forward to more and happy trails good friend.

Re: Wow!

Hey there, twins?

Did you say, "pack of ducks?"

That's better than a FLOCK of Seagulls! ; )
