Abbot Pass ACC Hut Approach Trail - HUT REMOVED

NOTE HUT HAS BEEN REMOVED>
Upper part of Approach Trail to Abbot Pass Hut. About900m from O’Hara, 660m from Oesa, steep scree, take a helmet. Can be hard snow in June/Early July. Up trail has markings, go either side of first buttress but right best, then stay left of pillar and next buttress, then follow trail across right to LH side of central gully. Central gully is loose scree and is used for descent. People visible on trail are at bottom of central gully – down trail. Approx up trail in red. Best scree run down in orange – saves up trail and safer from rockfall from down traffic. See 3 people near bottom of down route on high res pic. Taken from Yukness. click on pic to enlarge.
