Mount Colvin  Sucess!

Hiked Mount Colvin 4057' after summiting Nippletop during a two day backpacking trip staying both nights at the Indian Pass campsite. Was much easier than Nippletop and had a less spectacular view but was well worth hiking that weekend.

Nippletop  Sucess!

Hiked Nippletop 4620' in the Colvin Range during a two day backpacking trip staying both nights at the Indian Pass campsite. Steep but enjoyable hike with great, semi-clear sunny weather the entire weekend. A few false summits later and we found ourselves at the true summit overlooking Ausable lake with Mount Colvin staring us in the face. Proceeded down the same trail we took up and then headed towards Colvin.

Rocky Peak Ridge  Sucess!

Hiked Rocky Peak Ridge 4420' after ascending its neighbor Giant Mountain. Challenging hike due to a steep, wet trail descending to the col between the two mountains. Low visibility made the summit uninteresting. Had to back track back down the col and up the steep section of Giant we had descended earlier. Was very slippery and muddy and made the trek much longer than was expected, forcing us to hike the last hour in the dark with headlamps (We got lost at one point and our group of 4 turned into 2 groups of 2) It was a successful trip regardless of the conditions/visibility and a slight navigation issue.

Giant Mtn.  Sucess!

Hiked Giant Mountain 4627' via the Ridge trail route. Moderately easy hike due to its proximity to the parking area. The weather was overcast with light rain here and there and low visibility on the summit. Proceeded to Rocky Peak Ridge by decending from the summit of Giant down a very steep trail.

Whiteface Mtn.  Sucess!

Climbed Whiteface Mountain 4867' via the 11.6 mile round trip trail from Connery Pond. Very scenic route with dense, dangerous snow creating snow bridges towards the summit (One was at least 20 feet deep) Regardless, we managed to make it to the summit after about 6.5 hours of intense, 55-60 degree incline hiking and some bushwacking due to low hanging branches weighed down by heavy snow and ice. Cold weather around -10 F made the summit less hospitable than I thought it would be and forced us to head back down after a quick water/snack break near the observatory. Trek down was long but fun with some glissading. Was an intense and long, but fun hike and will go again once the weather is warmer.

Algonquin Peak  Sucess!

Hiked Algonquin Peak 5114' starting at the Adirondack Loj. Took around 10 hours due to steep ice sections towards the summit requiring crampon and some ice axe use. Very cold, around -15 F windchill at the summit with 20+ mph winds. Required snowshoes but was nonetheless an achievable hike on a beautiful day in the dead of winter. Totaled 9.6 miles roundtrip.
