After a blizzard

After a blizzard

Jiao Feng's NW slopes seen from our attack camp at 5900m on Qierlizuoke Feng. The clouds which covered the whole area during the snowfall are finally starting to clear. The summit is not visible, but it's not far from the high points you can see on the far end of the summit ridge.

Why didn't you climb it?

Seems like you were pretty close on Qierlizuoke Feng. Why didn't you reach the summit and be the first ever on top?

Re: Why didn't you climb it?

Thanks.
We reached 6350m. We were close to be avalanched to hell three times and had to go down. Climbed Jiao Feng and waited for better conditions, but no improvement. Almost avalanched on Jiao as well. Sometimes it's better to give up and live.

I'll put a up a page about Qierlizuoke Feng later.

Re: amazing view

Thanks Tomek.
We had some very beautiful moments in between the blizzards in the area. If everything works out the way I want I may be back in the area soon to make another try on the peak.

Re: Great photo!

Thanks Eric.
Those areas are remote and as far as I know only two expeditions ever had been to the valley before us. Considering that's the only gateway to all those high peaks it's astonishing and surprising. Another expedition is going that way now, very soon. It seems to be become a one person party.
I do like solo climbing though :)

Thanks :)
I just came back from the area the photo shows. Always so beautiful up there. Taking some time off in the south of China now.

Re: Amazing

I live in the southwest! :) In Sichuan. Let me know if you're ever taking a break from the ever-busy mountain environment to come into the serene city of Chengdu. HA! :D

Re: Amazing

I'm currently living in the beautiful, tranquil and exciting Chenzhou :)
The plan is to move to Yunnan though.
I actually do have some plans to head for Sichuan later on. Some ice climbing in the Siguniang area is beckoning.
