Water bottles still froze though.

Re: Bivy...I guess there comes a time when you just have to give in and rest... but it must not take too long before you are REALLY cold? Could you sleep or rest at all or just give up trying to make your way in the dark? I have not had to do it yet, but have come quite close!! December on Lava Falls in the Grand Canyon -- that would have been miserable!

Decided to sit down and bivy the second time I almost stumbled over an edge while looking for the route.
Lava Falls... I'd hate to flip there with dark coming on!
