Start from Weeping Rock and hike up into Echo Canyon; that may be the nicest day hike in the park for the scenery and the variety of it-- big walls, peaks, waterfalls, a slot canyon. Since you like some scrambling, you might also enjoy South Ariel Peak on the east side. You didn't miss too much on the Riverside Walk; the trail section does not get into or even reveal the real Narrows, but a summer trip into the Narrows is unforgettable.
