alpenglow on Shuksan, early Tuesday evening

The last light on Mount Shuksan was soft and spectacular on the last leg of the hike out of the Mount Baker Wilderness Area on Tuesday evening.

A layer of marine air was pushing in off the North Pacific clearing off the smoke and haze from earlier in the afternoon. You could smell it and feel a cooling breeze. My cameras were packed away and all I had was my older iPhone with a depleted battery. It's a bit of a cliche photograph. Nevertheless.

It was difficult to keep your eye on the mountain and the trail walking out. This has gotten me into trouble in the past.
