Alpine flora

Alpine flora

Interesting alpine flora in the tundra near Mt Evans. The center part looked like open artichokes, and each one was surrounded by those pretty white flowers. These were scattered all over the tundra as we hiked from Mt Evans to Spaulding peak. I do not know what they are called presently. 30 June 2007

I think they are Big-rooted Springbeauty.

They are fairly common in the Alpine Life Zone this time of year.
That's probably more than you wanted to know ...
