Alpine flowers on the western flanks of the Weissmies group

I think these might belong to the pea family (Fabaceae), but couldn't determine the species. Seen alongside the trail between Kreuzboden and Almagelleralp. 11 July 2014.

Only my guess:

Pedicularis oederi or Rhinanthus glacialis (R. minor); its difficult because you dont see any leafs.

Yes, leafs can help a lot with determination. If you look closely, you can see a few leafs, in particular at the very bottom. They are quite small. I don't know whether there were bigger leaves further down or not. I checked the original picture, which I had cropped a bit before posting, but it doesn't have more leaves.

If those leaves belong to the flower then it should be Pedicularis oederi, a rather rare wildflower. I think I never saw one out there in the mountains. An interesting pic!
