The stick and orange flag marks the spot with bolts, and at some areas you use trees or chains for anchors. If you are planning to lead, you place your anchoring system through the bolts, so nobody from the top will belay on top of you. I use 30 feet of webbing to extend my anchor to the lip of the gorge.
