Part of a long day hike to Tinker Knob, ended with 5 peaks on the day including Anderson Peak.
Checked out Benson Hut.
Last Peak of the day - Granite Chief, Needle, Lyon, Tinker Knob, & Anderson.
Sierra Mountaineering Club members climbed Anderson while on a ski traverse from Donner Peak. Fun little peak with a great view.
Nice late summer hike to Anderson Peak and then on to Tinker Knob. Stumbled upon the Benson Hut by accident - enjoyable day. Trip report at http://www.mountainhiker.org/trip_report.aspx?id=102
Cool, mellow peak on the crest.
Donner Peak, Mount Judah, Anderson Peak, Tinker Knob, and Mount Lincoln from Donner Pass
Chilly October day! Beautiful hike.
Day hiked along with Tinker Knob from Donner Pass via PCT.
One of 5 peaks climbed on the PCT that day. Fun peak to summit directly behind Benson Hut.
2nd peak in the same day.
This was the 4th Peak my wife and I climbed during our vacation in northern Tahoe. We left the PCT, hiking north before the lava cliff and climbed up the chute on the south side to the left of the summit; we follow what appeared to be a use trail. The final bit is a hike on talus.
4th of 5 peaks between Donner Pass and Squaw. Talus approach to chute solid and easy going, chute itself was less so, but still lots of fun and a good break from trails.
1st peak of a 7 peak day. (with Tinker/Judah/Donner/Castle/Andesite)
Lots of flies on the summit.
Pics are here.
Combined with Tinker Knob. Commanding views in all directions. Approached the summit from the south after leaving the PCT.
Was so anxious to begin my vacation I hiked from Donner Pass to Anderson without sunscreen or adequate water (there was none on the trail). Hike and summit were great but I paid for it with a lobsteresque sunburn.
Started from Donner pass. Watched a helicopter set poles for the ski lifts at Sugar Bowl and then a nice cruz to the peak.
An enjoyable winter dayhike out of Donner Pass with Bob, tagging Donner Peak, Mt. Judah, Anderson Peak, Tinker Knob, and Mt. Lincoln. Great views and great weather the whole day.
The climb up the leftmost north couloir on Anderson Peak was by far the best part of the day. Moderately steep snow that was in absolutely perfect condition for kicking steps. Good fun.
First "mountaineering" experience. Snowshoed up to the Benson hut with a more experienced buddy, who showed me how to kick steps in snow, and use a trekking pole for self-arrest and glissading (NOT recommended). We then kicked steps up the hard snow to the top of the peak and glissaded down. Scared the crap out of me :)
Fourth of five peaks this day along the Judah loop. Extremely smoky with terrible views all day.
