Hiked up from West Glacier. My first hike of what was to be a great summer.
I usually hike it at the start of every hiking season, just to get going. Nothing super special, it's kinda nice without all the trees in the way from the fire.
Hiked this after doing the Avalanche Lake hike in Glacier. This area burned recently and the views of the Flathead and Swan Ranges were incredible.
hiked this "summit" several times
I got harassed by a spruce grouse right by the look out. Hilarious
To Lookout & then uphill through the shrubby growth & deadfall left from the fire. If the whole ridge is like that it would be an unpleasant ridge run. I went until it leveled out - but couldn't tell if I was on the true 'summit'. It was late afternoon & I heard a cold beer calling me back to campsite.
I did this as an after dinner hike one summer when I worked at Lake McDonald. Great views, but I don't personally count this as a true summit.
Couple times in every season since it's so close.
Climbed with Kelly in the snow right after moving to Montana. The road was closed due to snow, so the hike was considerably longer...and I forgot my snowshoes. Been up multiple times since, great early season hike.
good early season hike
Fun after work hike.
Glad the weather man was wrong. Great day for a hike. Good views, looks like a lot of snow on the higher peaks in the park.
Went up on snowshoes Christmas Eve with my brother. It was foggy when we started in the morning, but by noon when we reached the top, the fog had lifted and there was not a cloud in the sky. Best Christmas ever.
First sunny day in weeks, and weeks, and weeks. Took off work and climbed .
2009 in on snowshoes with Jen
Most memorable with Holly, Dave, Gail, Greg, and Simon in the late fall colors. Another time, it was a great run down with Brie and Charlie.
I hiked up to the Apgar Lookout with my sister and her husband. We got a late afternoon start, but the weather was very nice, and we did the whole thing in about 3 hours.
Fun first Glacier Hike. Hiked with The Boys.
This looked like an interesting hike, so I went. The Going to the Sun Road wasn't open yet past Avalanche, and I didn't have the option of going to the eastern part of the park, so I figured why not get a good view of the lake, which I did. I was the first one up that day; when I was coming down the trail, ALOT of people were heading up it, and this was on a weekday.
