Outstanding journey!
Have wanted this peak for years, finally decided to drive the 650 miles to it and hike it. Beautiful scenery all the way up. Some hazy smoky air due to the big fire at Yosemite. Clear, still and warm otherwise. Just amazing! My report: Arc Dome, 7/30/2008

Arc Dome skied in February 1995
Rich Henke, Armando Menocal and I skied to the top of Arc Dome as a part of our attempt to ski the entire length of the Toyabe range in February of 1995. On our return to Tonopah, a FS ranger told us this was likely the first winter ascent of the peak and first ever attempt to ski the range between Arc Dome and Austin (?) Nevada. Has anyone skied in the area?

Nice surprise
Via the jeep road, 14 1/2 miles, 4400 feet elevation. You lose 600 feet to a saddle and then have to regain it back on the way back. Great views from the summit and a great companion, SP'er Dennis Poulin from Medford Oregon.
Route Climbed: Stewart's Creek Date Climbed: Aug. 21, 2004
I was hoping to bed down near the summit to enjoy a nice sunset and sunrise, but monsoon season threw a thunderstorm into my plans. Hunkering down in some trees below the crest, I met a guy from Henderson who suffered the same fate. Luckily, this guy came prepared with a bag of wine, which he shared. We reached the peak the next morning.
Route Climbed: Columbine Campground - east trail Date Climbed: October 16, 2004
We used the east trail instead of the "normal" western one. It was the first of an intended 8 ultra-prominence peaks in 8 days, however the high winds were a harbinger of worsening weather that limited our trip to 3 in 3 days before driving home thru the giant western winter storm of October 2004. Nice hike, nice mountain!
Route Climbed: North side trail Date Climbed: June 1994
Mitch L. and I hiked up North Twin River to meet our friend Bruce D. on the big plateau just north of Arc Dome (he was hiking the Toiyabe Crest Trail). We spent the night on the plateau, then descended to the saddle and climbed the trail that goes up the north side of the peak.
Route Climbed: Tourist Trail from Columbine Campground Date Climbed: 14 June 2003
Climbed on a spectacular if somewhat hazy day with bearbnz. Drove from Reno that morning, left the trailhead around 9:30 and summited 2hrs 40min later. Took a different trail down for scenery and drove back to Reno. Great hike!

Beautiful clear fall day in the Arc Dome Wilderness. Too late to see the Aspen leaves, but sunny and only a dusting of snow.
