Interesting structure! I'm not involved in the Western Alps forum discussion, because I really don't have enough information, but big groups for a start of classification look very fine to me.
I agree with Vid! I don't know enough of the western Alps myself but I think having them structured in large groups is the best beginning. LAter we can think about the sub- and subsub-groups
