Hit this one after coming off of wolfjaw. Nice views and some good steep sections on the trail up.
Quite the trip prior to dropping down to JBL.
I took the Beaver Meadow trail, after the West River trail to get to Armstrong. From there a did a loop of the Wolf Jaws to get back to St. Huberts. I met some nice hikers, including a woman backpacker who was with me on the summits of Armstrong and Upper Wolf Jaw.
Brother Bob and I had a young Bald Eagle soar over our heads when we climbed this peak on our way to Gothics
3 out of 4
Did this as part of a loop. Nice sunny day. A few people up on top with us, but still nice and peaceful. Pretty easy peak to check off the list.
Did this from Gothics. The Range trail was well packed, no snowshoes are needed, but a couple spots are icy and you will be served well by wearing crampons.
Did this peak from Gothics. Some fun steep stuff through the trees. Nice clear day with good views of Gothics.
Gotta get over it to get to the other ones!
Finally, some clear views from the top. So far the Great Range had been coy.
Climbed in 1/06 as part of a Sawteeth/Lower Great Range traverse, and in 5/06 as part of a Great Range traverse from Marcy to WJ Gap. During the 1/06 climb, injured my right hand while glissading. Still hurts from time to time...
With Gothics and Pyramid nice long sunny day.
Started at St Huberts, went up Gothics, then down the great range hitting Armstrong, Upper and Lower Wolfjaw. Great fall colors!. Early snow & ice made it kind of treacherous.
Did in combination with Wolfs Jaw and Gothics...nice rocky summit...
Did 4 new winter summits this day and Upper Wolf Jaw twice. Solo- but hey, it is the Great Range and I had lots of boy scouts up there to break the trails in.
Summer hike was part of my first hike in the 'Dacks
Actually the second time I bagged this peak as the first time I couldn't find the real summit. This time I found it. Weather was terrible.
Second of three, from Upper Wolf Jaw then onto Gothics. Tackled this one with the ROTM gang: Mike, Tom, Mr. Baio, and Chris.
Nice views at the top, and a good spot for lunch. I recommend Triscuts, a pepperoni or smoked sausage stick, and cheese.
Cloudy, but still some great views. Wanted to go on to Uwj, but not enough daylight left.Best trip of the year yet. The falls toward the end of the trail was spectacular!!!
Long hike with good views of the ADK's the whole way, sections of scrambling, ladders, and cables during hike...
Just another one along the way of the main prize for the day: Gothics.
