As stated in the Overview,...

As stated in the Overview, Chimborazo's summit is known to be the farthest point you can get from the center of the earth. (In fact, it is the farthest point one can stand from the center of any planet--farther even than the summit of 27000m Olympus Mons is from the center of Mars.) These numbers are based on my Excel spreadsheet and they are accurate enough for comparison purposes. Chimborazo's summit is about 2.16 km (1.34 miles or 7,070 ft) farther from the center of the Earth than Mt. Everest's summit.

I like the inclusion of a familiar reference point (i.e. Rainier) for comparison.

Interesting bit of trivia

I always like it when someone includes some non-climbing information on the site regarding things such as botany, geology, glaciology, etc. It helps give peaks a more individual character than they might otherwise have when compared to all the others out there.
