ascending traverse
After accessing the upper slopes, the route up Mad Wolf Mountain is exclusively class II and very straightforward. The rock is a bit loose, but better footing can be found by utilizing game trails. After gaining the north ridge, the ground becomes much more solid and its an easy stroll to the summit, at left in the photo.
