This one is greatIt's a nice departure on the normal "looking straight up through the aspens" shot. I like how the trunk leads the eye upward. Very nice!

Re: Jeeez! Thanks! I highly recommend a visit to the Medicine Bow National Forest west of Encampment, WY. Take Forest Road 800, nicknamed "Aspen Alley" in September and you'll have a wonderful time photographing the aspen there :)

So NiceHi Carol!! It's Anita from Tahoe.
This is so amazing..I love the contrast of the deep blue with the golden yellow of the aspens. It is so beautiful...should be on a magazine cover!:)

Re: Amazing! Thanks Mark! It's my favorite aspen photo to date.
Unfortunately I recently found out from a Forest Service employee that the aspen in this grove are declining. She's one of many people studying what they're calling, "Sudden Aspen Decline." She sent me a photo taken in July 2007 that shows these trees have very little leaves left on them :(

Re: Amazing! That's very sad. These aspen are beautiful, and I don't like the environment to die. Do you know what is causing this?

Re: Amazing! They're not sure but they suspect one or more of these things - drought, root disease or fungus, too many deer browsing, lack of fire, etc.
