August 2002 ascent of the NW...

August 2002 ascent of the NW ridge of Chopicalqui in the Cordillera Blanca, Peru. Poor snow conditions had turned what was supposed to be a 3 day ascent into a 7 day near-epic on meager rations.

Holy Shit!

Wow, great photo! That looks really intense. Reminds me of an article I read on Hummingbird Ridge on Mount Logan.

Re: Wow!!!!

I dunno, but it was a long way down! Check out the great photo of Chopicalqui from Pisco Basecamp (submitted by crevis), and you can see just how far down it is. My picture is along the knife-edge ridge leading up to the tiny, pointy sub-summit.

Looks like another planet...

A fierce, cold planet, in a galaxy far, far away....

Nightmarous!

It reminds me the film Touching the void... Scary, horrendous, nightmarous... but great. Perfect shot and I´m happy you are alive after that climb! Cheers Tomas.
