This is a great TR on what happened on Mount Hood. Congratulations on the summit. Hood is my favorite. Glad I invited you both on this mountain. You both did great on the trip!

Good job on your trip report. Next time invite me! Yep, you're right... the final 600 ft is quite scary! I did the Pearly Gate when there were nice secure steps to walk up. I soloed the Old Chute - but scary!!! Like you... I "backed down" the Old Chute every carefull and slow. Every single, safe step down is one step closer to a long life. One slip is clearly unrecoverable, especially if snow is hard.
