I really liked the climb, but not the wind. My favorite parts were seeing the giant ant hills, the scorpion and all the fossils.

Bald Mountain  Sucess!

April 28 2012

Kessler, Shaylee and I went for a climb of Bald Mountain on a dry and breezy day. We climbed the peak and since I heard that the summit register was in poor condition, I brought a replacement. After climbing the peak, we did some more exploring around the summit and found more fossils and an interesting “monument” on the north ridge.

After exploring around we headed back up to the summit and down the west face.

I got off work a bit early today so it was time for a peak. Justin Kuhn, a coworker had mentioned that he wanted to climb Bald Mountain since I mentioned that the top was all covered with fossils. Kim (my wife), Justin and I decided to climb the peak and we left the kids with another coworker Debbie who decided not to climb the peak. We left in the afternoon, climbed the peak via the Anthill Ridge and spent a bit of time on top viewing all the fossils before returning.

Kessler, Shaylee and I climbed Bald Mountain on a cold and windy day at first with some snow falling. The climb was steep in places, but all three of us made the summit along via what we called the Anthill Ridge because it had three of the largest anthills that we had ever seen. We saw a scorpion on the very summit and played around a bit and looked at the views before heading down. We saw at least 100 elk on the way out. It was a fun little trip.
