From South Fork TH  Sucess!

Started from the South Fork TH around 6:45 am after a camp in the Comstock Campground (free as of now). Used the ATV trail 702 as our primary ascent path. Eventually transitioned to the West Frisco trail. Breeze was minimal early but increased later. Saw elk and pika. Beautifully clear views at the summit. San Juans, Sawatch, Sangres all around. Finished the hike in less than four hours. Only party on mountain, no ATVs!

From Blowout Pass  Sucess!

I drove a stock 3/4-ton pickup up from Jasper to Blowout Pass in the dark the night before I hiked the peak. I do not recommend that idea. But, then I camped at the pass and began my hike up toe Bennett Peak at first light. Nice hike up an ATV trail with lots of loose rock.

Stop along the way  Sucess!

Wouldn't have stopped to climb this one if it had not been a county highpoint. The approaching storms had me running all the way back to the car. Would have liked to have given Wind Mtn a go, but the thunder convinced me otherwise.

From Blowout Pass  Sucess!

Drove from Denver and had good weather so I summited this peak the same day. While I was there I thought I might as well hike Sheep Mountain as well.

A Gentle Giant  Sucess!

Hiked from 9500 ft above the town of Jasper where snow drifts blocked the road to Blowout Pass. There was still lots of snow, but it was well consolidated and never softened to the point where snowshoes were necessary. A freezing cold wintry wind was blowing. We also climbed nearby Sheep Mountain.

Parked below Blowout  Sucess!

Drove from Del Norte to about a half mile below Blowout Pass with 2 wheel drive pickup and walked the rest of the way to pass. After walking I realized I could have driven all the way. A 2 hour hike, on top at 9:30am. View of lakes down steep north side was nice.

Colorado County Highpoint #20  Sucess!

I made it about one-half mile in the first time I tried only to be turned back by a July snow/hail storm that covered my car in ice. After the storm, I summited in about an hour. Ended up camping at Blowout Pass. Beautiful area to camp.
