Bergundy Col route

Bergundy Col route

This is an excellent route, although many climbers consider the main gully unattractive, or "craptastic." Unless you enjoy gullies with refrigerator sized rocks being held up by dirt, you want to climb the gully to the left (north) of the main gully. Here's our route. We were fortunate to have an easy stream crossing on a double log. There's a steep climbers trail to the bench at 6400'. The bench was covered in snow, so we headed toward Burgundy Col trying to find the recommended gully left of the "obvious" gully. We were ascending the correct gully until a large, well built cairn lured us onto the red route, which I wouldn't recommend. We found the correct gully (yellow route) on our descent. June 6, 2009
